The "N. Tramonti – M. Crosta" Fanfare from Lonate Pozzolo leads the Lombardy formation at the 73rd National Bersaglieri Rally
On 31 May 2026, under the Adriatic sun along Lignano Sabbiadoro's seafront promenade, the Bersaglieri Fanfare "Nino Tramonti – Mario Crosta" from Lonate Pozzolo experienced one of the most significant moments in its recent history: leading the Lombardy regional formation at the 73rd National Bersaglieri Rally. Around eight thousand plumed hats from across Italy and abroad filled the streets of the Friulian resort for the fifth and final day of the rally, which culminated with a flyover by the Frecce Tricolori aerobatics team.
Founded in 1966 and making its debut at the National Rally in Ravenna in spring 1967, the Lonate Pozzolo ensemble — made up of some thirty musicians — has built over the decades a remarkable résumé, with performances in France, Germany and at high-profile institutional events. Being chosen to open the Lombardy formation at the most important gathering in the Bersaglieri world represents a recognition of musical excellence and of deep attachment to the Corps' values.
With feathers in the wind and brass resonating along the promenade, the "Tramonti-Crosta" Fanfare brought the heart of Lombardy to the centre of the great national rally, leading the regional formation before thousands of spectators and the highest state authorities.
The Lonate Pozzolo fanfare's Bersaglieri weekend had already produced stirring moments the day before, on Saturday 30 May, when the ensemble took part in ItinerAnnia — the 23rd edition of the "Events of Taste and Art" festival in San Giorgio di Nogaro. On the stage at Villa Dora, in the heart of the Bassa Friulana lowlands, the "Tramonti-Crosta" Fanfare opened the evening musical programme with its unmistakable running-pace march through the town-centre streets, giving the Udine-area audience a foretaste of the energy and passion that the following day would captivate the entire seafront of Lignano.
This 73rd Rally, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Friuli earthquake — when the Bersaglieri were among the first to bring relief to the stricken population — carried an even deeper resonance. The presence of the Lonate Pozzolo Fanfare at both events bore witness not only to the ensemble's musical quality but also to the tireless dedication with which every member upholds the values of service, memory and national identity that have defined this historic fanfare from the province of Varese for sixty years.
